On Thanksgiving my Aunt Elsie was reminiscing about the olden days and how my Poppy Sol would roast chestnuts for the employees in the back of the nut shop. We haven’t had chestnuts in a while, but it’s never too late to bring back a tradition. And just in time for the holidays. Fresh chestnuts and dried chestnuts are now available! I am so excited!!!

We’ve been selling Cluster Raisins forever…or as long as my uncle can remember (since he was a little boy, and that was a long time ago!!!). We just got in a freshly harvested supply and they are out of this world. I love raisins, and we certainly sell tons and tons of some of the best raisins out there, but these Jumbo Cluster Raisins certainly take the cake. They are jumbo thompson seedless grapes that are left on the vine to attain the optimum flavor and sweetness. The grapes are hand harvested and sun dried on paper trays. Fifteen days later they are washed, graded and hand packed to keep them attached to the stem. Try some and you will immediately notice the difference in appearance, feel, and taste.

Starting tonight, the Newark Nut Company/NutsOnline.com is opening its doors again in a new location that feels a lot like home. We are now the exclusive vendor of nuts for the New Jersey Devils hockey team in Newark’s new Prudential Center (aka “The Rock”)…literally right on top of our store that the city bulldozed 2 years ago!

We have now survived three generations of Newark history, each time landing on Mulberry Street! First in our freestanding shop at number 99, then at a very 80s shopping center at number 147-169, and now at the colossal building at number 165. Come rock out with us and Bon Jovi tomorrow night to celebrate the new store…we’ll be the guys with the fresh roasted peanuts!
