A study published in this month’s American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that consuming only two Brazil nuts every day can raise blood selenium levels by about 65 per cent.
Selenium is understood to boost the body’s antioxidant immune system and may deliver health benefits including reduced risk of some types of cancer and cardiovascular disease and promotion of normal liver function.
In 2003 the FDA issued a qualified health claim on selenium, which states: “Selenium may reduce the risk of certain cancers. Some scientific evidence suggests that consumption of selenium may reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer. However, FDA has determined that this evidence is limited and not conclusive.”

A wonderful customer passed this NYTimes Article to us: Dried Cherries May Help Travelers Fight Jet Lag
“Tart cherries contain melatonin, which is then absorbed into the blood stream influencing your biological clock.”
Turns out that dried cherries have even more melatonin than fresh cherries.
