Boiled Peanuts for your Health!

Monday, October 29th, 2007 in Uncategorized, Products, Health

This just in from Alabama A&M University’s Department of Food and Animal Sciences…A new study by a group of Huntsville researchers found that boiled peanuts bring out up to four times more chemicals that help protect against disease than raw, dry or oil-roasted nuts. These phytochemicals have antioxidant qualities that protect cells against the risk of degenerative diseases, including cancers, diabetes and heart disease.

We’re coming home!

Thursday, October 25th, 2007 in Holidays & Occasions

Starting tonight, the Newark Nut Company/NutsOnline.com is opening its doors again in a new location that feels a lot like home. We are now the exclusive vendor of nuts for the New Jersey Devils hockey team in Newark’s new Prudential Center (aka “The Rock”)…literally right on top of our store that the city bulldozed 2 years ago!

We have now survived three generations of Newark history, each time landing on Mulberry Street! First in our freestanding shop at number 99, then at a very 80s shopping center at number 147-169, and now at the colossal building at number 165. Come rock out with us and Bon Jovi tomorrow night to celebrate the new store…we’ll be the guys with the fresh roasted peanuts!

Figs with a new twist!

Monday, October 8th, 2007 in Products

Last summer I had a wonderful time visiting our fig grower and we are finally getting around to his suggestion to carry Mission Figs. They might be smaller than Calimyrna Figs, but they’re sweeter, and definitely worth a try for you fig lovers out there. Wonder why they’re called Mission Figs? You can thank Franciscan missionaries for introducing this variety of fig to California. Aha! :-)
